The A Place in the Sun presenter issued an apology after disappointing the guest.17:17, 26 Jun 2026A Place in the Sun host Laura Hamilton was left apologising at the end of a “fussy” property search.‌The Channel 4 host had her work cut out for her after welcoming guest Paul to the show, who walked out minutes into the repeat episode airing on Friday, June 26.‌Paul and his best friend Tina were looking for a Spanish holiday home in Benalmadena, on the hunt for something that would meet their requirements and Paul’s husband Shaun, who had to stay in the UK during filming.‌However, Paul wasn’t impressed with the first property on Laura’s list, as he confessed: “It’s absolutely not for me, and if it’s not for me, it’s most definitely not for Shaun.”He shocked Laura, as she admitted, “I’m surprised,” while Paul explained his reasoning behind instantly rejecting the property.‌“You want to get out of here as quickly as you can,” Laura said, as Paul agreed: “Definitely.”Laura admitted to the camera: “I don’t think I’ve ever been in and out of a property as quickly as that. But if Paul doesn’t like it, I’d rather draw a line under it and move on because I’m pretty sure the next four properties are going to have a better reaction than this one.”Unfortunately, Laura’s hopes were not met, and failed to impress Paul and Tina with her next few properties.‌At one point, she told him: “You sometimes make me a bit nervous, whether you’re actually wanting to see any more of it,” and she even labelled Paul “fussy”.As their search came to an end, Laura was left apologising for not finding Paul and Tina’s dream holiday home within their £250,000 budget.‌She told them: “When I first met you Paul, you had a clear idea of what you wanted and what you didn’t want.“It has been really tricky obviously trying to find something that stole your heart.”After hearing why Paul had rejected all the options, Laura added: “You have got a good budget but what you are looking for, the entry level for it is £300,000, that’s what these properties start at.‌“Hence everything we’ve looked at has had to push into your wiggle room. If you’re wanting more modern, sleek, all of those things that I haven’t been able to show you, I hate to say it, but you’re going to have to find another £50,000 to £80,000 to put in the budget.”Paul admitted he wouldn’t be able to add more to the budget, but would have to start looking at his “no, no” options, including apartments.Article continues belowLaura concluded: “I am so sorry that we weren’t able to find something that got you excited and made you feel it was right for you.”She added to the camera: “I’m disappointed I wasn’t able to find something for Paul and his partner Shaun on his search. But they do now have a clear idea of what it is they want and I wish them all the best with their continued search.”A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
