EXCLUSIVE: A Place In The Sun star Laura Hamilton has been giving fans a glimpse of her fun side on Instagram, but not everyone has been impressed14:42, 05 Aug 2026Updated 14:45, 05 Aug 2026A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton says she’s been on the receiving end of criticism after sharing a more light-hearted side of herself on Instagram. Known for her polished, professional image on the long-running Channel 4 property show, where she’s been a familiar face for 14 years, the presenter, 44, said she now wants followers to see more of her personality away from the day job.‌Last week, Laura posted a tongue-in-cheek video of herself getting stuck into garden jobs wearing a bikini and a pair of wellies. In the clip, she can be seen pruning hedges and tackling other chores as she danced along to music.‌Captioning the post, she joked: “Trimming my bush… the glamorous side of gardening. Bikini, tractor, sunshine and a bit of hard work — what more could you ask for? What’s your favourite garden job… or the one you’d happily leave to someone else?”‌The video earned plenty of praise from her 243,000 followers, but it also attracted negativity, reports the Daily Star.Speaking to us, she explained: "I've been doing property since I was 19 and you want to make sure that you come across in a serious way and people take you seriously with what you're putting out there.‌"But equally, I don't want to take away from the fact of who I am. And, you know, I have got a fun side to my personality and it's finding that balance."Soon after uploading the footage, Laura revealed that a co-worker informed her about a message from somebody who had chosen to unfollow her.The email read: "We're not following Laura anymore because we were interested in her property renovation in Mallorca, but she just looks like she's messing around and being silly and we'd rather follow somebody that's more serious."‌Laura, who also recently witnessed a drowning after filming for the property show, hit back: "Somebody actually took the time to send that email. And I was like, 'You know what, don't even bother responding. Don't even give them the time of day'."The majority of people are very positive, but then you always get the negative Nancy's that are like, 'Oh, your kids must be so proud of you' and you're like, 'Don't follow me then'."‌Though fully aware of the negative backlash, Laura vows to stay positive and insists she does't let the haters bother her.Beyond her work on A Place In The Sun, she has established her own YouTube channel devoted entirely to all things property. In the episodes, she shares practical guidance and tips on everything from purchasing and selling property to refurbishments, interior styling and investing in homes both domestically and abroad. It also provides an exclusive glimpse into Laura's personal renovation ventures and the valuable insights she's gained throughout the process.Article continues belowDiscussing what's coming up next, she revealed that more filming is in progress for a new episode this Friday, though joked: "It won't involve me in a bikini."Episodes of Property with Laura Hamilton are released every Friday at 5pm on Laura's YouTube channel.
