A Place in the Sun host Leah Charles-King was left disappointed after best friends Nikki and Helen, from Warwickshire, walked out on a property during their search for a holiday home in Costa de la Luz14:58, 22 Jun 2026A Place in the Sun presenter Leah Charles-King has revealed she felt let down after hearing the response from participants on the programme.‌Best mates Nikki and Helen were searching for a holiday property in Costa de la Luz, Andalucia, despite never having visited the region, in a repeat episode broadcast on Monday, June 22.‌With a spending limit of £150,000, the duo, from Warwickshire, were hoping to discover somewhere they could eventually relocate to permanently, with Nikki already having sold her property in the UK.‌They wanted a location where they could immerse themselves in the Andalusian culture throughout the year and enjoy horse riding, but Helen and Nikki weren't bowled over by all of Leah's suggestions. They had been seeking a property with three bedrooms, potentially two bathrooms and "something with soul" alongside outdoor space for entertaining, reports Birmingham Live.‌However, just moments into viewing one property, they chose to leave before even exploring the remainder."This is not really the location we were looking for," they informed Leah, standing outside their first viewing. "It's not for me," Helen remarked, likening it to a "holiday complex".Briefly entering the four-bedroom property, which had a "traditional" aesthetic and a courtyard garden, Leah remained hopeful: "Let's see if we can change your mind on the inside, but if nothing else, at least it's a great exercise for me to see what you really don't like."‌Yet Nikki and Helen remained firm: "It's not what we're looking for, it hasn't got the feel at all.""Do you want to bother seeing the rest of it?" Leah asked. "No," they agreed, before turning their attention to a second property.‌"I'm sorry you're disappointed in this, but on the positive side, at least I know what you're really into," Leah said. She then told the camera: "I've had worst starts to house hunts... no scratch that, I actually don't think I have."But to be fair, I'm a bit disappointed as I thought that this house, which is on the market for just under £166,000 offered Nikki and Helen loads of charm and space in a great location.‌"But they weren't keen on it, pretty much on the get go, so we move onwards and upwards."Despite Leah's other options, Nikki and Helen didn't manage to secure a holiday home on the show, though they did put in one offer.Article continues belowThey had offered £168,000 in the hope of modernising a property they were interested in, but when the owners would only sell for £176,784, Nikki and Helen admitted: "We couldn't, it's way over our budget."They vowed to keep looking to stay inside their budget for their dream home, while Leah said: "We were so close to finding that dream home for besties Helen and Nikki. But sadly on this occasion, it just wasn't to be. The good news though is that they found a part of Spain they've fallen in love with and I wish them all the very best on their continued search."A Place in the Sun airs weekdays from 3pm on Channel 4.
