Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar on Friday said that the Tourism Department has plans to implement 436 projects over the next five years under the theme ‘Aram, Porul, Inbam,’, while inaugurating the ‘Kumari Kalai Thiruvizha’ organised at Triveni Sangamam.The programme has been organised by the Department of Tourism in partnership with the Kanniyakumari district administration.Addressing the event, Mr. Rajesh Kumar highlighted that the festival aims to provide tourists with a deeper understanding of the region’s tradition and cultural heritage.Pointing out the district’s geographical and cultural diversity, he said that the district encompasses four traditional Tamil landscapes such as “Kurinji, Mullai, Marudham and Neydhal,” each possessing its own distinct culture and significance.The Minister further stated that Tamil Nadu has a coastline of 1076 km, noting that steps would be taken to beautify the coastal areas and turn them into tourist destinations that foreign and domestic tourists can visit and enjoy.He added that in terms of tourism the planned projects will be brought to the attention of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, and measures will be taken to execute tourism development works in the state.Stating that ₹20 crore worth project report has been prepared for Kanniyakumari district, he said that these projects will be brought to the attention of the government and are expected to be announced in the upcoming Budget.Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap, General Manager of Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation S. Lakshmi Priya, MLAs Thalavai Sundaram, R. Chellaswamy, Kanniyakumari Superintendent of Police R.
