Tourism Minister S. Rajesh Kumar on Thursday held a review meeting with officials of the District Rural Development Agency to assess the progress of its projects in Kanniyakumari.Addressing the meeting held at the Collectorate, he said that various schemes were being implemented in the district to improve the livelihood of rural people and ensure uninterrupted provision of basic amenities in villages. All projects being undertaken by the agency in the district should be completed within the stipulated timeframe, without compromising on quality, and made available to the public use at the earliest.A detailed review was conducted on the Chief Minister’s Rural Roads Development Scheme, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam, among others.The Minister emphasised that officials must prioritise drinking water supply, street lighting and sanitation facilities. They must continuously monitor implementation of government welfare schemes and ensure that infrastructure facilities reached all eligible beneficiaries including those in the remotest part of the district.Collector M.
