The expansion of the MyCiti system will close a number of roads.
Work is currently progressing on the ambitious Phase 2A expansion of the MyCiTi system, which aims to create a vital transport link connecting Mitchells Plain and Khayelitsha with the commercial centres of Wynberg and Claremont.
In line with its broader infrastructure goals, the City of Cape Town is advancing construction activities along the Govan Mbeki and Japhta K. Masemola Road corridor.
As part of these efforts to modernise transport in the area, a significant temporary traffic adjustment will be in place from July 2026 through December 2026.
During this period, the eastbound lane on Japhta K. Masemola Road—the section between the Maphongwana Avenue and Solomon Tshuku Avenue intersections—will be closed to traffic to facilitate necessary roadworks.
