MANILA, Philippines – The Visayas grid remained under strain from thin power reserves, prompting the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines to place the island region under yellow alert for seven hours on Friday, June 26.

In an advisory, the grid operator said the yellow alert would remain in effect from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m.

NGCP again attributed the alert to the unavailability of three major coal-fired power plants.
