Residents and eyewitnesses have narrated how a three-storey building that collapsed in the Satellite Town area of Lagos State on Thursday had shown visible signs of structural failure before the tragedy, alleging that government authorities had repeatedly warned occupants to leave the premises.
The collapse, which occurred along Old Ojo Road near Alakija Bus Stop off the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, has so far claimed at least four lives, including an eight-month-old baby and an 18-year-old phone repairer identified as Gabriel.
Speaking with SaharaReporters at the scene, eyewitnesses said the building had long exhibited signs of distress, with cracks visible on its walls before it eventually gave way.
One resident alleged that despite warnings from government officials and visible structural defects, some occupants remained in the building.
