A three-storey building collapsed on Thursday morning in the Alakija area of Lagos State, trapping an unknown number of people beneath the rubble and triggering a massive rescue operation involving emergency responders, security agencies and local residents.
The building, located inward Navy Town near the Alakija Bridge along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway corridor, reportedly caved in at about 11:40 a.m., throwing the densely populated neighbourhood into panic.
Eyewitnesses said that several occupants and workers were feared trapped inside the structure when it suddenly collapsed.
