The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has confirmed the arrest of a fourth suspect linked to the kidnapping and murder of seven members of the Monswamy, Newark family, whose bodies were later discovered in Melmoth, KwaZulu-Natal.
The accused is facing multiple serious charges, including kidnapping, murder, housebreaking with intent to rob, and robbery with aggravating circumstances, and is expected to appear alongside his co-accused when the matter returns to court on 31 July 2026.
In April, seven family members were kidnapped at night from their Newark home and later found murdered in Melmoth.
The victims were identified as Allen Monswamy, 52, his wife Sandy, 57, their children Kraidon, 26, and Shamaria, 20, and relatives Gonosagren Padayachee, 51, Mooniamma Padayachee, 78, and Mariama Happanah, 83.
