Three men accused of kidnapping and killing seven members of a Newark family made their second court appearance on Tuesday.

One of the accused charged in the brutal Monswamy family massacre matter intends to apply for bail.

The KwaDukuza Magistrate’s Court heard on Tuesday that 27-year-old Bongumenzi Mpungose would make a bail application at a later stage.

“The Legal Aid attorney told the court that they would approach the court with a date for the application following consultation with the accused,” said National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara.

The matter was postponed to July 31 for further investigations.
