Southern Railway has announced the partial cancellation and regulation of train services in the Tiruchi–Erode section on June 27 and 29, and July 2, 2026, to facilitate engineering works for the maintenance of railway tracks at the Kodumudi railway yard in the Erode–Karur section.A release from Salem Railway Division said, Train No. 56809 Tiruchi–Erode Passenger, scheduled to depart from Tiruchi Junction at 7.25 a.m., will be short-terminated at Karur on the three days. The train will operate only between Tiruchi and Karur and will remain cancelled between Karur and Erode.Train No. 16846 Sengottai–Erode Express, scheduled to leave Sengottai at 5.20 a.m., will also be short-terminated at Karur on those days. After the completion of the works, the train will be operated as an unreserved special service between Karur and Erode, with the same stoppages as the regular express service.Meanwhile, Train No. 16845 Erode–Sengottai Express, scheduled to depart Erode Junction at 2 p.m., will originate from Karur Junction at 3.05 p.m. on the notified dates.
