More than half of postmenopausal women experience hair loss.
For many women, menopause brings a range of well-known symptoms, from hot flushes and night sweats to mood changes and sleep disturbances. But there is another common issue that often receives far less attention: hair loss.
Research published in the journal “Menopause” found that 52.2 per cent of postmenopausal women experience female-pattern hair loss, making it one of the most common changes women face after menopause.
Despite its prevalence, experts say it is frequently overlooked in medical consultations and often dismissed as a normal part of ageing.
Hormonal changes play a significant role in what happens to hair during and after menopause.
