The revision of Greece’s Constitution began with some very lofty ambitions – and a long list of the articles that would be put up for review. It has already taken a back seat, however. The opposition boycotted the process politically, and the public debate has moved on past it. But the opportunity to modernize our institutions is too rare to squander. There is still time to focus the reform effort on the essentials over which most political forces agree – such as ministerial accountability and the selection of the judicial leadership.
