The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, on Tuesday, deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, AIG Dankombo Morris, to Plateau State following the recent deadly attack on Kawel community in Mushere District, Bokkos Local Government Area.
The attack had claimed the lives of no fewer than 20 villagers.
The deployment is part of immediate measures to assess the security situation on the ground and implement strategies to restore calm and prevent further attacks.
The IGP also approved the deployment of additional police personnel and operational assets, including Police Mobile Force units and tactical teams, to reinforce security presence in the affected communities.
During a visit to Bokkos on Tuesday, AIG Morris, accompanied by members of the state police command management team, held strategic meetings with local government officials, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders to coordinate the response.
