Chantal Pasqaulle-Hoorn
The doctor who first assessed Chantal Pasqualle-Hoorn at Groote Schuur Hospital faced intense questioning from the defence on Monday, with Duncan Hoorn's legal team probing whether proper medical protocols were followed and whether the doctor had personally reviewed the results of scans ordered after her admission.
Dr Tim Giles, who was working in the trauma unit at Groote Schuur Hospital on June 28, 2024, returned to the witness stand in the Western Cape High Court, currently sitting in the Wynberg Regional Court.
Hoorn has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the administration of justice.
Earlier evidence from Giles revealed that Pasqualle-Hoorn arrived at hospital with extensive bruising, multiple lacerations and a Glasgow Coma Scale score of 12 out of 15, indicating a moderate traumatic brain injury.
