Russian troops have not abandoned their plans to take control of Kupiansk and continue their attempts to advance toward the city from the north, but have not made any significant progress.
According to a Ukrinform correspondent, Viktor Tregubov, spokesperson for the Joint Forces Task Force, reported this on television.
When asked whether the Russians had accepted that they could not capture Kupiansk, Tregubov replied: “Obviously not. At least on their own maps, they mark it as occupied again, and lately, what they draw on their own maps is their pipe dream, so it’s clear that they will push from the north and try to narrow the Ukrainian bridgehead east of the city on the left bank of the Oskil River.”
According to him, the Russian command continues to view the city as one of its targets and is attempting to put pressure on Ukrainian positions east of the Oskil.
“They are trying to advance, pushing in from the north through Holubivka. They are trying to gain a foothold on the northern outskirts of the city, but without much success,” noted the spokesperson for the Joint Forces Task Force.
