Coimbatore Corporation will conduct special Lok Kalyan Mela camps for street vendors to facilitate access to bank loans across its five zones from June 24 to 30.According to a statement issued by Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, the camps will be held during office hours at the respective zonal offices. The schedule is: East Zone on June 24, West Zone on June 25, Central Zone on June 27, South Zone on June 29 and North Zone on June 30.Street vendors who had applied for bank loans but are yet to receive them, as well as those who have repaid the first or second instalment loans and are eligible for subsequent loans, can attend the camps.Applicants should carry their street vendor identity card, Aadhaar card and bank passbook. Vendors engaged in food-related businesses can also participate in awareness programmes conducted by the Food Safety Department and obtain the necessary licences.The camps will also encourage street vendors to adopt digital payment systems and avail themselves of related benefits, the Commissioner said.
