Coimbatore Corporation has yet to receive funding from the State government for a proposal submitted earlier this year, in February, seeking ₹23 crore. This proposal aims to install new streetlights and replace the existing non-functional or low-illumination streetlights throughout the city.
The plan comes as a response to several complaints received regarding poor street lighting, which has been attributed to ageing infrastructure and a reduction in illumination levels in various areas. The project includes the installation of new streetlights complete with poles, as well as the replacement of old streetlights, roads that have been newly laid or expanded recently.
