French President Emmanuel Macron thanked British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who has announced his resignation, for his support of Ukraine and his contribution to strengthening Franco-British cooperation.

According to Ukrinform, Macron wrote about this on social media platform X.

“I would like to thank Prime Minister Keir Starmer for his contribution to strengthening Franco-British relations, his involvement in the Coalition of the Willing for Ukraine, and his efforts to restore relations between the United Kingdom and the European Union,” Macron said.

He added that “collaboration in the areas of defense, nuclear energy, space, and innovation—particularly during the Franco-British summit last July—is a testament to this commitment.”

Macron also highlighted Starmer’s “commitment” to supporting Ukraine. This refers, in particular, to his role in the Coalition of the Willing—a group of Kyiv’s European allies that France and the United Kingdom are jointly promoting to coordinate further support for Ukraine and security guarantees.
