Traffic police arrested 41 drivers over the past week across the greater Athens area, including 17 motorists who had significantly exceeded legal drink-driving limits.
Between June 15 and the early-morning hours of June 22, officers conducted 26,671 breathalyzer tests, recording 292 alcohol-related violations. The 17 arrests involved drivers with blood alcohol levels exceeding 0.60 mg/l.
Police also recorded more than 9,500 additional traffic violations, including speeding, failure to wear helmets, mobile phone use while driving, red-light violations, and driving without a valid license.
As part of the enforcement campaign, authorities confiscated 436 driving licenses and 1,382 vehicle registration documents.
