The Bengaluru Traffic Police registered 588 cases of drunk driving and 91 cases of over-speeding during a week-long special enforcement drive conducted across the city from June 1 to June 7.The special drive was carried out by officers from all 53 traffic police stations with the objective of improving road safety and curbing violations that often lead to serious accidents.As part of the anti-drunk driving campaign, traffic police checked a total of 39,616 vehicles across Bengaluru and booked 588 motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol.In the parallel drive against over-speeding, police registered 91 cases and collected fines amounting to ₹91,000 from violators.The traffic police said the enforcement campaign was launched to address the growing menace of drunken driving and speeding, both of which are among the leading causes of road accidents in the city.Officials said similar special drives will continue in the coming weeks to strengthen compliance with traffic regulations and enhance road safety for commuters.
