PATRICIA Williams lost her third child to gun violence when, on Saturday, her son Marlon Williams was chased and shot dead at the back of a house in Pleasantville.Sitting in her wheelchair at her Pleasantville home yesterday, Patricia Williams, a 73-year-old stroke victim, cried out, “(There’s) too much gun violence. The place sick.”Marlon Williams, a maintenance worker at the San Fernando City Corporation, was outside his Ixora Lane house with a neighbour on Saturday when, police said, a gunman alighted from a white Toyota Aqua.Patricia Williams said she became fearful for her life when two masked men started shooting. She was in the living room when the neighbour ran inside the house and injured his head in the process, while the gunmen chased after Williams who ran to a track behind the house.“They come through the gate and they start to shoot and he run through the back. They run through the yard and they went down in the back.” Patricia Williams said.Residents heard gunshots and soon after found Marlon Williams at the back of a house on Cedar Drive in Pleasantville. He had a broken leg and a gunshot wound to the head. He died at the scene.Patricia Williams said her son used to be her daily help, especially in the years following her stroke.Marlon Williams was the father of 14-year-old twins and he planned to spent time with them yesterday for Father’s Day.Faith Chewitt, Williams’ partner for the past five years, said they had planned to yesterday visit the beach. She said one of his short term goals was the completion of repairs to his vehicle.His mother described the crime situation as terrible. “It is too much,” she told reporters. Patricia Williams has a daughter who lives abroad and two of her children were previously shot dead.Back in 2009, her daughter Alicia Kizzy McKenzie was found with gunshot wounds in a bushy area of Mayo. McKenzie was a State witness in the murder of Jason Fullerton of Marabella. She was being held at a safe house in Tobago but left to attend a party in San Fernando. McKenzie, 29, was a mother of four but lived alone in Vistabella.Pointing to a family picture on the wall with her son Avalon McKenzie, Patricia Williams said he was also shot dead 30 years ago.Officers from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Crime Scene Investigations unit and Mon Repos police station were at the scene of Marlon Williams’ murder on Saturday. Constable Valdez is continuing investigations.Williams’ killing and another fatal shooting last evening in Maracas, St Joseph has pushed the murder toll to 183.
