On account of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s birthday, the Forest Department had announced free entry to the Arignar Anna Zoological Park on June 21 and 22.On Sunday alone, the zoo saw a total of 17,182 visitors.According to videos circulating on social media, many people complained that only those who had online tickets were allowed to enter. However, a press release, which was issued later by the zoological park, said the visitors with pre-booked online tickets as well as those without pre-booked tickets were allowed entry.The release also said separate vehicle parking facility, free shuttle services, and wrist tags for children were made available.About 70 visitors used the medical help desks, and ambulances facilities were set up within the zoo.Forest staff, police personnel, Singappen Special Force, and volunteers were deployed to manage the crowd.
