Arignar Anna Zoological Park (AAZP), Vandalur, has received a pair of Himalayan black bears and a pair of leopard cats from Jambu Zoo in Nagrota near Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, as part of an animal exchange programme.A press release from the AAZP said the animals were transported safely by train in a specially-attached coach, under the supervision of keepers and veterinary staff, and were provided water sprays and feed during the journey.The arrival of leopard cats marks their return to the zoo after a gap of 21 years, the release said. The animals will undergo a mandatory 21-day quarantine under veterinary supervision before being introduced to their enclosures.As part of the exchange programme, a pair of hippopotamuses from Vandalur Zoo will be sent to Jambu Zoo, where they will be exhibited for the first time.
