Sheryaar, a five-year-old lion at the Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Vandalur, was guided back to his night shelter at 4.30 p.m. on October 6, after it disappeared into the deeper parts of the safari enclosure a few days ago. On October 5, the zoo deployed five dedicated search teams, assisted by veterinarians, biologists, and caretakers, to monitor the area. Advanced tools, including thermal and visual drone cameras and over ten camera traps, were used to track the lion’s movements. Feed and water were placed at many locations. A release said such exploratory behaviour was normal in young lions adjusting themselves to new environments. It appeared healthy, and the safari is likely to reopen soon.
