Nishant Krishna, the Collector of Sivaganga district, assumed office as the new Collector of Madurai district here on Sunday. He replaced Collector P. Akash, transferred to Sivaganga district. The new Collector holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Electronics and Communication from the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT Mesra) in Ranchi. He is a 2018 batch Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer. Prior to that, he also has experience working as an IPS officer in the Meghalaya cadre from 2014 to 2018. After working for a short period in the engineering and corporate sector Mr. Nishanth Krishna joined the civil services and has held various key responsibilities in Tamil Nadu. He has worked in Srirangam in Tiruchi district and Hosur in Krishnagiri district. In Chennai, he contributed to industrial development by serving as the Managing Director and Additional Director of the Guidance Bureau, SIPCOT, and TIDEL Park Ltd. He served as the Municipal Corporation Commissioner of Nagercoil in Kanniyakumari district. He was appointed as the District Collector of Sivaganga and assumed charge on June 18.
