The Chairman of the Bauchi State House of Assembly Committee on Budget and Appropriation, Mohammed Wanzam Zaki, representing Sakwa Constituency, has been confirmed dead after a brief illness.
The Speaker of the State Assembly, Abubakar Sulaiman, who announced Zaki’s death in a statement issued on Sunday through his spokesman, Mukhtar Garba Kobi, said the lawmaker passed away in the early hours of Sunday in Bauchi.
Expressing sadness over the development, Sulaiman described the deceased lawmaker as a devoted legislator and public servant who rendered valuable service to his constituency and the state.
“With a heavy heart and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, I announce the passing of a member of the Bauchi State House of Assembly representing Sakwa Constituency, Hon. Mohammad Wanzam. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” part of the statement read.
The funeral prayer for the late lawmaker was conducted on Sunday at the Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque in Bauchi.
