Remains of the late Rep member, Yaya Bauchi Tongo.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday adjourned plenary until Wednesday, in honour of the late member representing Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency of Gombe State, Bauchi Tongo, who died last month.

The House, which resumed from its end-of-legislative-year recess, held only a brief sitting before suspending proceedings in keeping with the National Assembly’s tradition of paying tribute to deceased lawmakers.

The session was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who led members in observing a moment of reflection for the late legislator before announcing the adjournment.

Tongo, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, died at the Nizamiye Hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Friday, June 12, 2026, after a brief illness.
