The member representing Kwami/Funakaye/Gombe Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Yaya Bauchi Tongo, has died.
Tongo, who was elected to the National Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 general elections, defected to ADC in March 2026.
News of his death was made known by former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, who announced it in a post on his verified X account.
According to Pantami, the lawmaker passed away on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
"We have lost our representative for Gombe, Kwami, and Funakaye, Hon Yaya Bauchi Tongo. He passed away today, Friday, June 12, 2026," Pantami wrote.
