President Bola Tinubu has called on all candidates who contested Saturday's Ekiti State governorship election to set aside their differences and unite behind the re-elected governor, Biodun Oyebanji, in the task of moving the state forward.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President congratulated Oyebanji on his "resounding victory" and commended those who participated in the election for exercising their democratic rights, while urging them to now close ranks behind the incumbent.
“The President also commends all those who contested the election with the governor for exercising their democratic rights, saying it is now time to rally round Oyebanji in the task of taking Ekiti to the next level of governance,” the statement said.
Oyebanji, who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission with 319,224 votes, becomes the first governor in Ekiti State's history to win back-to-back re-election.
President Tinubu praised the people of Ekiti State for what he described as their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election, as well as their confidence in Governor Oyebanji.
