RULAAC urged the Abia State government to publicly disclose the findings of the investigation and take action against any officers found culpable.

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has appealed to Governor Alex Otti of Abia State to disclose the outcome of an investigation into the arrest, detention and prosecution of members of the Chikadibia family, as well as the demolition of their home during a police operation in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area.

In a follow-up letter dated June 20, 2026, and addressed to the governor, the civil rights organisation said more than three months after the state government reportedly ordered an investigation into the incident, the affected family had yet to receive any information on the findings or any form of redress.

RULAAC said the family of Mr. Sunday Chikadibia and his daughters — Glory, Ngozi and Ogechi — continued to suffer the consequences of the April 12, 2025 operation in Alaukwu community, which resulted in their arrest, detention, prosecution and the destruction of their family home.

The organisation called on the governor to ensure transparency in the investigation and provide adequate compensation, restitution and other forms of support to the victims, arguing that justice requires more than the release of persons wrongfully detained.
