The deadline for registering elevators in Greece will expire on June 30, with no further extension expected, following a working meeting at the Authority for Market Control and Consumer Protection.
The meeting, attended by officials from the Development Ministry’s General Secretariat for Industry, the market watchdog and consumer organizations, concluded that registrations are progressing at a satisfactory pace, particularly for regularly serviced elevators.
The requirement applies to elevators in apartment blocks, office buildings, hotels, professional premises and mixed-use properties. Elevators previously registered under older systems must also be re-registered through the online platform https://elevator.mindev.gov.gr.
The General Secretariat for Industry said the process is free of charge and takes around five minutes to complete. Failure to comply could result in fines ranging from €1,000 to €5,000, depending on the type of building.
According to the Development Ministry, Greece has nearly 310,000 elevators. The number registered rose from 263,087 at the end of November to 286,324 by June 19, leaving fewer than 24,000 still to be recorded before the deadline.
