Vigilance and Anti-Corruption unit of Ramanathapuram has appealed to Government servants to turn whistle blowers and tip-off the vigilance officials about middlemen and brokers who were trying force the officials to take bribe.In a statement, the DVAC Deputy Superintendent of Police, said that the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 provides stringent provisions not only to punish public servants who demand bribe but also to trap persons who induce or give bribe to Government servants under Section 8 of PC Act, 1988.The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Ramanathapuram Detachment, intends to initiate reverse trap operations in the district to curb the menace of bribe-giving by private persons/touts to public servantsIn this regard, DVAC, Ramanathapuram has appealed to all honest and upright Government servants in Ramanathapuram District to alert about such touts, brokers or private individuals who offer or force them to accept bribe for doing official work.The officials could confidentially approach DVAC, Ramanathapuram district unit and their identity would be kept secrety.The DSP could be contacted over 04567-230036, the statement said and also gave mobile nos: 9498652169 / 9498215697, where their officials could be reached.
