The battle between Bulls outside centre Canan Moodie and Rieko Ioane of Leinster could set the attacking and defensive tone on Friday night in the URC final in Dublin.

Friday’s United Rugby Championship (URC) final between Leinster and the Bulls at Croke Park in Dublin is packed with world-class talent, from proven club champions to World Cup winners in the Bulls ranks.

While it will take a complete team effort to claim top honours, a handful of individual contests could have a major influence on the battle and ultimately determine where the trophy ends up. We take a look at some of the key matchups ahead of the Grand Final in the Irish capital (8.30pm kick-off).

The battle for territory and points will be fiercely contested at fly-half. Pollard is a proven winner with the Springboks and his calmness under pressure could be invaluable in a final where every point will count. His tactical kicking, defence and game management will need to be at their best to guide the Bulls.

Prendergast, meanwhile, has become a key figure in Leinster’s attack. The young playmaker is a masterful distributor with excellent vision, while his passing game is capable of unlocking any defence. If the contest turns into a territorial battle, Pollard may hold the advantage. If Leinster secure quick ball and attacking rhythm, Prendergast could dictate proceedings.
