Two persons died and eight others suffered injuries in an accident involving two multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) and a moped near Chettiyar Mill bus stop at Pasur on Annur–Sathyamangalam Road on Thursday (June 18) afternoon. Police identified the deceased as Parasuram (42) and Palanivel (52), natives of Mannargudi.According to police, an MPV, driven by K. Marimuthu (42) of Ponnegoundanpudur, tried to overtake a moped proceeding towards Puliampatti from Annur but collided head-on with another MPV, carrying Parasuram and three others, heading to Annur.Parasuram and Palanivel, who suffered serious injuries, were rushed to the government hospital in Annur, where doctors declared them dead on arrival. Vikram (23) and Sathish (22), who suffered multiple injuries, were hospitalised.Marimuthu, his wife M. Jothimani (38), R. Pannari (60), his wife Rukmani (58) and her son P. Murugan were admitted to a private hospital at Thirumuruganpoondi. Moped rider M.
