Tensions are escalating into a communal war between boundary communities of Enugu and Ebonyi states, following an armed invasion of Obiagu Mpu Community in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The alleged invasion by suspected militants from Ishiagu, Ebonyi State, has left one person dead and three others severely battered.

SaharaReporters learned that the deadly incursion, which took place on Saturday, is tied to a volatile and longstanding boundary land dispute between the neighboring agrarian communities.

Tension and pandemonium have completely enveloped the border axis, with residents packing their belongings in anticipation of full-scale reprisal actions.

Eyewitnesses and local sources told SaharaReporters that the armed invaders stormed the farmlands in Obiagu Mpu during a cultivation session and opened fire on the unsuspecting farmers.
