The report, made public on Tuesday, alleged that military personnel deployed to Imezi-Owa invaded four communities with “war-grade weapons,” razed civilian homes, abducted residents, and later attempted to justify the operation through what was described as “false labelling, ethno-religious profiling and concoction of stories.”

A fresh investigative report has accused personnel of the Nigerian Army’s 82 Division, Enugu State, of colluding with armed herdsmen in a violent operation that allegedly left several homes destroyed and hundreds of residents displaced across communities in the Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

According to the report, the military operation took place between May 5 and May 6, 2026, in the Imezi-Owa axis of Ezeagu, particularly in the communities of Akwuke-Umudim, Abonuzu, Eziama and Eziowa.

The report was jointly released by the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety) and the South-East Civil Liberties Organisation (South-East CLO).
