Six years ago, Moegamat-Ridaa Botha vowed to rise above his circumstances and become a medical doctor and surgeon.
In a compelling testament to perseverance and dedication, the 22-year-old's childhood dream has started coming true.
After being celebrated as one of the top 40 matriculants in the Western Cape in 2019 as a learner at Spine Road High School in Mitchells Plain, Botha recently achieved his qualification as a medical doctor after completing his MBCHB Degree at the University of Cape Town.
He has been granted the opportunity to do his further training in Kimberly.
