Intel said it is bringing the latest iteration of its 18A manufacturing process into production, as it seeks to prove its competitiveness as a contract manufacturer and gain major clients.
The company announced the new node, 18A-P, at the VLSI Symposium in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Naga Chandrasekaran, head of Intel Foundry, the company’s nascent contract manufacturing business, said the development was a signal to Foundry customers and partners “that we are fully committed to leading edge process innovation over the long term”.
