TRAGIC: SAPS patrol dog Floppy
EASTERN Cape police confirmed the death of beloved patrol dog Floppy, who was shot dead in the line of duty at the weekend.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS) K9 Unit, Floppy was last seen alive last Friday when he was unleashed to pursue a gang of armed suspects fleeing after they had allegedly robbed a school.
After the dog bolted into the dense bush, the police handler heard gunshots, and Floppy never returned.
Floppy’s body was recovered on Monday after Search and Rescue units launched a massive search in the dense bushes of NU-16, Mdantsane.
