Greece will on Wednesday launch PosoKanei.gov.gr, a new digital platform that allows consumers to compare supermarket prices in real time, replacing and upgrading the existing e-Katanalotis service.
The platform includes 7,973 products across six categories, including food, detergents, cleaning supplies, personal care items, paper products and pet goods. Food accounts for the largest share, with 4,810 products listed.
Users can compare prices across major supermarket chains and use a digital shopping basket feature to calculate and compare the total cost of selected items at different retailers. The platform also provides a two-month price history, allowing consumers to assess whether promotions represent genuine discounts.
In addition to its consumer functions, PosoKanei.gov.gr incorporates data-analysis tools to help authorities identify market violations, process complaints, conduct inspections and impose penalties. Officials say the system will also support faster and more informed regulatory decisions.
The platform is scheduled to be officially presented at 12.30 p.m.
