The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Human Settlements held a media briefing on Monday following the arrival of Sihle Makhaye’s mortal remains in South Africa. A KwaZulu-Natal family has finally found closure after Sihle Makhaye’s remains arrived at the King Shaka International Airport, more than two months after his death in Russia on March 28.

Makhaye, 44, from Kranskop, was lured to Russia with the promise of a security job.

The mortal remains of Sihle Makhaye arrived in South Africa, bringing a sense of closure to a family that has endured immense pain.

On arrival, he was allegedly asked to sign a one-year contract to fight in the Russia-Ukraine war. He refused.
