The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Michael Falade, has said over 12,000 personnel and equipment, including Armoured Personnel Carriers and gun trucks, would be deployed for the governorship election on Saturday.
He added that tactical teams, the Police Mobile Force and the Rapid Response Squad, among others, would also be deployed.
The police boss, however, said there was no provision for state-owned security outfits, including the Amotekun Corps, Agro Rangers and local vigilante groups, to participate in election security duties.
Falade, who spoke with The PUNCH in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, assured that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure a hitch-free governorship election in the state on Saturday.
He said the Force Headquarters would deploy sufficient personnel and equipment to Ekiti for the election, adding that federal security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security were already coordinating efforts to guarantee a peaceful exercise.
