Washington Examiner columnist Joe Concha suggested that a proposed agreement with Iran could mark a turning point that complicates Democrats’ messaging heading into midterm elections.
“For the first time in modern history, [there is] a real chance to unite the gulf in the Middle East. The second biggest key to this incredible achievement that we’re seeing outside of the U.S. military, obviously — President Trump’s, quite frankly, ballsy move to move against Iran when other presidents, Democrat and Republican, were all talk and no action before — was the fact that we had Gulf states, [guest host David Asman], joining the United States,” Concha said on Fox Business’s Varney & Company on Tuesday.
The United States and Iran are set to sign an agreement as soon as Friday in Geneva, Switzerland, aimed at ending months of military conflict.
Concha pointed to the potential domestic impact of declining energy prices, questioning how Democrats would respond if one of their key economic criticisms of the Trump administration were to weaken.
“If the war is over and gas prices go down to levels that we haven’t seen in many, many months, then what is the Democrat message? What do they run on?” Concha said.
