The residents further maintained that they possess valid legal titles to their properties, including Certificates of Occupancy, some of which were signed by Governor Fintiri himself.
Residents of Dundere community along Numan Road, near the Ultra-Modern Stadium in Adamawa State, have accused Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of ordering the demolition of their homes despite a subsisting court order halting the exercise.
The affected residents alleged that they were served eviction notices without being presented with any valid revocation order or details of compensation, describing the move as unlawful and a violation of their constitutional rights.
According to the residents, the disputed area is not a government layout but a community-owned settlement where individuals legally acquired land and built their homes. They noted that the government, like other private landowners, previously purchased a portion of the area on which the Ultra-Modern Stadium was constructed.
However, they alleged that the state government is now attempting to acquire and annex the entire community to the stadium premises without following due process or paying compensation to affected property owners.
