Udupi Deputy Commissioner T.K. Swaroopa on June 16 directed the officials concerned to provide vocational skills training to the youth through industrial training institutions to help them pursue careers at existing industrial units in Udupi district and to make employment available locally.She was chairing a district-level meeting on industrial establishments at Rajatadri, the district office complex in Manipal. The Deputy Commissioner said that industrialisation would usher in employment opportunities, and talent migration would stop.She said the training courses required for employment in industries should be started for Industrial Training Institute, diploma, and Government Tool Room & Training Centre students in the district this academic year itself. The students should be given internship opportunities, she added, stating that after completing the professional courses, students should be given apprenticeship training in industrial units.Other issuesMs. Swaroopa instructed officials to complete the land acquisition and other processes on priority and proceed with the establishment of industries to construct new industrial areas on 74.84 acres in Shivapura of Hebri taluk, 38.75 acres in Kerebettu, 50.42 acres in Nitte of Karkala, and 101.19 acres in Uppur of Brahmavar taluk.She said applications have been submitted for some changes in the activities of units in the Shivalli Industrial Area. Most of the applications are for the establishment of ready mix concrete plants, and before approving these, a thorough examination should be conducted to ensure that there is no problem with other units in the vicinity.Nagaraj V.
