The Puducherry CB-CID police have arrested a youth on charges of murdering his father around six years ago as he feared losing a family property.Police identified the accused as Dhanapraveen, 29. Two of his close associates Marthaiyan alias Kalaivendan and Prasanth were also arrested for their involvement in the murder, a police release said.Dhanapraveen’s father owned a petrol station at Karasur near here. The son feared that his father’s decision to marry for the second time would deprive him of the ownership rights over the petrol bunk in the future. So he planned and executed the murder along with his friends, the release said.The murder which occurred in March, 2020 was initially investigated by the Villianur police station. As there was no breakthrough, the case was recently transferred to the CB-CID wing of the territorial police for investigation, the release said.The CB-CID said their team took up the investigation by examining the complaint given by Dhanapraveen on his father’s murder. In the later stage, it was found that there was contradiction in the statements given by the complainant and his associates.
