The death of a nine -year-old boy under suspicious circumstances on Saturday in Vadakadu police station limits in Pudukottai district has turned out to be a murder. The police apprehended a 17-year-old juvenile in connection with the crime.The case, which was initially booked under section 194 of the BNSS, has been altered under BNS section 103 (1) (murder) and under a couple of sections of the POCSO Act after conducting inquiries with the juvenile.Police sources said the boy left home on Saturday evening and his parents launched a search when he did not return. His body was found near a waterbody at night with a ligature mark on the neck. The boy’s mother raised suspicion over her son’s death and lodged a complaint with the Vadakadu police. Sources said the body of the boy was handed over to the parents after autopsy. The juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board in Pudukottai and subsequently taken to the Government Observation Home in Thanjavur, the sources said.
