The death of a nine-year-old boy under suspicious circumstances at Thirumurugapattinam village in Vadakadu police station limits in Pudukottai district on Saturday has prompted the police to launch a probe after booking a case.The police gave the name of the deceased as B. Thirumeninathan alias Karuppan G of Thirumurugapattinam. The boy was a class IV student of a government school and belonged to a Scheduled Caste.The police said the boy left home on Saturday evening to play with his friends and did not return home prompting his parents to launch a search. The boy’s parents found their son lying dead near a waterbody at night. The parents found injury marks on the boy’s neck and blood oozed out from the ear and mouth triggering suspicion. The boy’s mother B. Parimala lodged a complaint with the Vadakadu police station stating that she had suspicion in her son’s death and sought action. A case under Section 194 of the BNSS was registered. The sources said the police had picked up a suspect and conducted inquiries with him. Published - June 28, 2026 07:36 pm IST
